He is the man who was indirectly responsible for the then chief minister of Maharashtra losing his job. Known for his penchant for making movies on sensational incidents director Ram Gopal Varma showed insensitivity by visiting the location like he went for a morning walk and just a few days after 26/11 using the CM's clout and connection. He issued a statement that he would not make a movie on it, now he is back confirming that he is indeed making a film on the tragedy.
He tweeted, "After 'Department' I am making a film on the attacks of 26/11. Every one more or less has seen on TV or heard of what happened during that time. But my attempt now would be not only to capture on film the physical aspect but also the behind the scenes aspect of what exactly happened from the time Kasab and rest of the team landed on Amar Singh Solanki's trawler in the high seas, till kasab's heroic capture by the late Tukaram Ombale at Girgaum chowpatty. This will be intercut with what the various gallant police officers did in their attempt to get the situation under control."
"I am being assisted by Rommel Rodrigues, author of 'Kasab the face of 26/11', who has an extensive and encyclopedic knowledge of the event but my film is not based on his book. The film is being made for both the International and Indian audiences. It will have a cast of completely new actors to create a heightened sense of reality. After my tryst with the so called underworld films I would consider this film as the greatest challenge of my career," he added.
