Well-prepared and tension-free he is and that confidence stems from his perfect planning that took a year. Sekhar Raja's first film Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara has released on the 27th of this month, he says it is a thriller - offers real excitement and the audience are sure to put their legs up on the seat and bite their nails to know what would happen next.
He had worked with Krishna Vamsi for ten years but why did he hang on so long to embark on his project? "Everytime I wanted to leave him I found something more to learn from him and it went on for ten years, I quit because I needed to make money. Vamsi doesn't bank on any person for his work. In their absence he goes about it with ease as he has perfect grip on the 24 crafts but I can't be spontaneous and do spot improvisation like him. I have to plan in advance."
The debut director doesn't reveal the synopsis but one hears it's about spirits. "I chose the thriller because I wanted people to know that I am capable of handling a variety, love stories are so common that are chosen by first time directors. Handling such a thriller shows one's maturity. We wanted Balakrishna for the cameo as we wanted freshness."
What is Uu Kodathara Ulikki Padathara? "When one narrates a story, the second person while listening to the narration in rapt attention will nod and says Uu..that means we can go ahead with the story. Ulikki Padathara is the twist in the story that will surprise and shock you. It now has to be seen how the audience reacts."
How easy was him for him to shoot with such an ensemble cast? The talented director remarks, "I feel if one is in complete command over the subject and is able to clarify each and every single doubt of an artiste they will not go ahead with the next question. The work gets easier. Any amount of discussions and arguments can happen and are welcome when it comes to the story but it ends there."
