He is just seventy plus and after a hiatus is back weilding the megaphone. Director PC Reddy who made his debut in 1971 and has given huge hits like Badi Pantulu, Padi Pantalu, Vichitra Dampatyam says his forthcoming movie Ila Aite Ela will have the youth eating out of his hand. Just not that, Ammayile Best, a movie that eulogises women is releasing on November 5 followed by Babala Bagotham that deals with the antics of fake babas.
Speaking on keeping in tune with the likes and dislikes of contemporary audiences he says, "It is imperative that we change with time. Girls in villages no longer wear half sarees, when they don't how can we expect girls in the city to dress up traditionally?
Every family in a village has their children living in a foreign country; Recently I visited Nizamabad and was surprised to see huge buildings which has only senior citizens as the inhabitants and their children living abroad. Keeping in mind the changing social sceneraio we are coming up with this film."
PC Reddy is all praise for his financier Chadalavada Srinivas Rao whom he terms the hero behind the camera, without whose help the film would have never taken shape. It is produced by his friend Ajay Kumar who directed Matrudevobhava. The film was originally titled Idhi Kadha..? but was later changed to Ila Aite Ela.
Producer Ajay Kumar says, "Every human has a right to be judgmental when someone in the family errs. The story asks a few questions like who decides to be the judge and what punishment does he give and under what circumstances is the punishment based on? What is right for one person may not be right for the others. Divorce was a taboo once but no longer now and if the story were to unfold in real life how would the audience react to the character's behaviour?"
The movie based on nature's law has a point that has never been dealt with in Telugu cinema claims the producer. It is a two hour movie with four songs. Santosh Samrat is the hero and newcomer Surabhi Prabhu plays his love interest. Music is by Sasi Preetam.
The movie is going though post-production and the first copy will by ready towards the end of this month. This family drama has been shot in Ramoji Film City.
