Ask him what he means by a psychological puzzle thriller, he has a simple answer. He says that while in a discussion one can find a question. What is the question and how one discovers it is the puzzle. There are many such psychological puzzle thrillers in Hollywood but this is the first time the audience will get to see it in Telugu. Made within a shoe string budget it has Jagapathi Babu, television anchors Deepthi Vajpayee and Swapna as the prominent faces. The ladies from the media were taken as the film is absolutely non-formula and bereft of any commercial elements like song and dance. The film's duration is one hour forty five minutes.
Why did the director choose Key as a debut film? Nagendra Prasad quotes Ram Gopal Varma who opined that all it takes is an 'adbhutamaina ooha' to become a director. Apart from his confidence levels being high, he has a thorough understanding of the making and marketing of cinema and proposed the project convincingly to the producer. He is aware that for a first timer, consciousness of a budget, it's parameter is a must and felt an experimental film would be a safe bet; he could do a commercial film and prove himself later on.

He observes 20 to 25 years back a passionate filmmaker would have worked as an assistant director first to become a full fledged director but now the advent of digital technology has paved way for everyone to prove themselves. Key has been shot by DI's new software SGO Mistika which is being used for the first time in India and also by a camera far advanced then Red One. Key is being released in June.
