After the release of my first film I went on to sign 50 more movies and started shuttling between Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Hyderabad and finally shifted from Vijayawada to Hyderabad after the release of Rajendrudu Gajendrudu, Mayalodu, Yamaleela, all SV Krishna Reddy's movies.
How it felt? Brahmanandam and myself, saw Aha Naa Pellanta on the first day of it's release in Yuvaraj theatre in Vijayawada. It was a beautiful feeling seeing the crowds laugh at every single line and scene. From then onwards I did varied roles, pathos, sentiment, etc., but the most fabulous memory was me winning the best actor award in 1978 for a drama directed by it's director and my guru BSR Murthy, an expert in social drama, he was a participant in 18 drama competitions. I never expected to become a film artiste and I make use of every opportunity given to me be it advertisements, television shows, radio, events or movies. I never crib and go about every assignment with liking and enthusiasm.
How has life changed? I'm not a highly ambitious person and I'm content with what life has offered me. I never ever think I'm an artiste and always lead a real life. Even when I go to Raithu Bazar people do recognize me and stare but I prefer to go about my work like everyone does. Some people get into IT, business, regular jobs and I am into arts..it isn't great but I'm aware that not everyone gets an opportunity to act, one must be God's chosen one to entertain people and be recognized and I consider myself blessed.
Twenty five years in the film industry has moved so briskly and I have completed around 250 to 300 films. I hate being idle and love to work, it gives me a lot of satisfaction. In the industry I'm fond of Brahmanandam, we both started our journey together. Comic roles have helped me to a great extent, I attempt to bring in a light-hearted atmosphere all around amidst family and friends.
