No wonder Ram Gopal Varma chose him for the Jerome Matthew's mean role in 'Not A Love Story' based on actress Maria Susairaj's case. His next film under production is Mumbai Cutting which has ten different stories; he plays a character in one story that revolves around local railway, directed by Kundan Shah.
Deepak says "Not A Love Story doesn't mean that it isn't a love story, it actually intends to say that it has something more, sirf love story hi nahin aur bahut kuch hai." This is the second kind of brutal killing he'd read about the first one being the Tandoor case where a body was chopped into pieces and attempted to burn in the Tandoor. Ram Gopal Varma had told him that none of the three, Maria, Matthew and Neeraj Grover had a criminal record.
The actor says they had shot in the same building and they couldn't sleep during the days they worked on the film. It was so disturbing to be in the same atmosphere and same place.
Getting philosophical the actor talks about a common man's psyche when he goes through too many pressures. They become ambitious, the desire gets uncontrollable, one doesn't know how much he wants how he wants but he wants it at any cost. If the object of desire becomes a person then he becomes very insensitive, the obsession and passion could turn brutal.
He adds, "Because of such thoughts a man cannot see the sensitive side of the society. Yeh cheez (the killing) ho chuka hai, yeh kaise hua yeh sochna bahut daravna hai. We are used to reading daily killings in the newspaper but cutting a man into pieces is something that society doesn't accept. A man should control his ego and ambition. Waqt se pehle kuch pane ki laalach rokna chahiye."
