We saw Aksha in Yuvatha but that isn't her first film. She made her debut in Malayalam Goal and that's how the director of Yuvatha spotted her and signed her for one of the lead roles. She played a medico who falls in love with a youth who believes in himself. Right now she is the heroine in Ride being made by Ramesh Verma, a publicity designer.
She had just finished her 12th standard and says that she wouldn't have minded working in films much earlier. At 5 she started modeling and had so far worked in 70 to 75 TV commercials. Aksha is slim, fair and tall enough to be heroine material. She even has long jet black hair which she most often leaves it open. "I love long hair and I get scared to go even for a trim," says the actress who modelled for Parachute Coconut hair oil.
She adds, "I did Goal even while I was in the 10th class. Two days before the board exam I was shooting for it. My friend calls me and asks me how I'm preparing and I reply that I'm dancing here in the rain. Despite all that I scored 80%." Aksha means horizon and the young lady decided she would be a celebrity when she was a toddler, and would most of the time go to the mirror, put on make-up and act. What matters is the feeling that her parents are proud of her achievement and her dream is coming true.
Aksha says the Telugu film industry has been really kind to her and she had no problem with the language whatsoever. She reminds one that she had done her first film in Malayalam, the language which is far more complex than Telugu.
What is the story of Ride? She replies carefully, watching her words, "Basically it's all about bikes, four youngsters. A youth-centric masala film in which all four characters have very important roles. The guys do the difficult job of riding and maintaining them and all we girls do is to just sit behind them."
The level-headed lady says she is not all in a hurry to sign films, wants to analyse each subject and commit herself only if it's hundred percent perfect. There is no point in squandering away opportunities and a career by doing every film that comes along your way. She adds that she can't think beyond movies and wants to make sure that the very few films she gets to do brings her fame rather than fortune.
When the actress is not shooting one can find her head buried in books, she is a voracious reader and also loves to watch films. Her favourite actors are Allu Arjun and Siddarth and she doesn't miss any of Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan's releases. Finally she loves to chat.."I do it endlessly, am known as the chatterbox in the family," she signs off.
