Yuva Samrat's First Silver Jubilee Hit Ninne Pelladatha
March 31, 2007
Released on 4th October, 1996, Annapurna Studios' Ninne Pelladatha, presented by Smt. Akkineni Annapurna, written-directed by Krishna Vamsi and co-starring Tabu, went on to become the first direct silver jubilee hit of 'Yuva Samrat' Akkineni Nagarjuna in Telugu.
Produced by Nagarjuna himself, it had music by Sandeep Chowta (his first film as a music director), lyrics by Sirivennella Sitarama Sastry, cinematography by K. Prasad, art by Peketi Ranga and editing by Shankar. YVS Chowdary worked as co-director for the film.
The film was also released in Tamil dubbed version on 9th May, 1997. Titled Unnaiye Kalyanam Pannikiren, it was a success too.
Ninne Pelladatha had a 100-day run at 38 theatres-37 direct and one shift and a direct silver jubilee run in Hyderabad (Devi 70mm-189), Vizag (Jyothi-189) and Vijayawada (Raj 70mm-188).
Never before did a Telugu film ran for 175 days at Devi 70mm. Nagarjuna's other hit films Geetanjali, Shiva and Hello Brother had a 126 (3 shows), 155 (3 shows) and 100-day (4 shows) run respectively at the theatre.
It was the same case with Raj 70mm, where the earlier highest run was by Chiranjeevi's Gharana Mogudu-155 days, while Nagarjuna's Shiva ran for 148 days.
Amitabh's Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978) created a record by running for 100 days in three theatres (daily three shows) in the twin cities. That record remained for 18 years until Ninne Pelladatha broke it in 1997 as it celebrated a 100-day run in three theatres in the twin cities-Devi 70mm, Nataraj 70mm and Konark 70mm, but with daily 4 shows. It also set a record in the Nizam region by completing a 100-day run at 7 theatres.
Not considering the twin cities, only four films collected a single theatre gross of over Rs. 50 lakh before Ninne Pelladatha. The details are as follows:
|Film Name||Centre/Theatre||Gross Collection (Total Run)|
|Premalayam||Vijayawada/Urvasi 70mm||Rs. 54,91,762 (175 days)|

|Bharateeyudu||Vijayawada/Venkateswara Palace||Rs. 55,02,912 (162 days)|
Ninne Pelladatha surpassed all previous records by collecting a gross of Rs. 59,42,224 at Raj 70mm in its total run-188 days.
It is also the first film to collect a gross of over Rs. one crore in the twin cities. In its total run at Devi 70mm, it grossed a whopping Rs. 1,03,72,483.
The film created a record in Guntur town by collecting a 100-day gross of Rs. 27,27,661.50 and a 100-day share of Rs. 17,39,739. The previous record was held by Mohanbabu's Pedarayudu, which collected a 100-day gross of Rs. 27,04,335.50 and a 100-day share of Rs. 16,95,000.
