Nandi Awards 2004

The Nandi awards for the year 2004 were presented at a glittering ceremony held at Peoples Plaza, Necklace Road, Hyderabad on the evening of 26th October, 2005. The function started with a musical show by Vandemataram Srinivas. Singers Chitra, Vijayalakshmi and Gangadhar regaled the audience with their voice. Subsequently, mimicry artiste Siva Reddy entertained the audience with his mimicry show.

The awards were given away by the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Dasari Narayana Rao, the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, M Satyanarayana Rao, the Finance Minister, K Rosaiah, and the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shabbir Ali presided over the function.

In his speech, Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy appealed to the producers to make more message-oriented films. He said that the government has already taken enough measures to eradicate piracy and also reduced entertainment tax on the exhibitors. He further added that the selection of films was good and commended the judges for their good work.

Rajendra Prasad, who won the Best Actor award for his role in 'Aa Naluguru', announced that he would donate Rs 2,00,000 for the Best Actor award. Later, he, along with the team members of 'Anand' donated the amount they received from the awards to the CM's fund for children with heart ailments.
