Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Meira Kumar presented the ANR Award for the year 2007 to Actor-turned-social activist 'Padmasri' Shabana Azmi at a function held at Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad on Saturday, January 13, 2007. Shabana Azmi is the second recipient of the award. The first award went to veteran Bollywood actor Devanand.

Present on the occasion was the entire family of the Telugu cinema matinee idol Akkineni Nageswara Rao, which included Nagarjuna, Venkat, Yarlagadda Surendra, Naga Chaitanya and Sumanth.

Also present were Union Minister of State for Mines T. Subbirami Reddy, VB Rajendra Prasad, S. Kondala Rao, Costumes Krishna and Siva Krishna.
